Qwest Parking Ramp
About the project
Originally constructed in 1963, this parking garage is actually a multi-use structure. In addition to the 112 parking stalls, it houses a 4-bay loading dock and an 8.3 mega-watt emergency power plant, both of which serve the adjacent 830,000 square foot high rise building.
The concrete parking decks had weathered and deteriorated to the point that they were considered unsafe. After Progressive Architecture conducted an extensive pre-design study to determine the most suitable course of action for this facility, the Owner elected to salvage the building due to the mission-critical nature of the other uses housed within the building. The parking portion of the building was gutted to the structural steel frame and reconstructed.
